The Assistant Principal assists the Principal in organizing and fostering a positive, safe environment that is conducive to meeting the needs of all students, staff, and parents. This position provides instructional leadership support to education/day treatment programming and reports directly to the Principal. The Assistant Principal is responsible for assisting with instructional leadership, supporting curriculum implementation, supervising instructional staff, and managing daily school operations to ensure effective implementation of the school's educational programs and goals.

Essential Job Functions
 
  • Serves as an instructional leader to support student achievement and promote implementation of the school's instructional programs and goals
  • Assists in the selection, training, and implementation of State standards and initiatives
  • Assists in the selection of instructional material and provides curriculum consultation and instructional support to teaching staff
  • Works closely with teachers to design and implement instructional modifications and specific educational strategies to meet student needs, models various teaching techniques in classrooms
  • Facilitates and supervises the implementation of Positive Behavior Supports Intervention (PBIS)
  • Assists with hiring, orientation, and supervision of instructional staff
  • Coordinates instructional coverage with the Milieu Manager or other designee and provides planned classroom coverage to school as needed
  • Develops and implements the school's daily schedule, ensuring that CDE requirements for total yearly hours, weekly core content hours, and number of school days are met
  • Assists in the orientation of new staff members to the teaching environment of a day treatment school as it relates to students, personnel policy and procedures, and agency practices
  • Assists in organizing parent meetings, back-to-school nights, and other times when staff are available to parents to discuss their child's learning and behavior
  • Assists with general administrative procedures including admissions, enrollment, records requests, and other operational tasks as assigned
  • Prepares professional written reports in a timely manner
  • Manages Infinite Campus (IC) including creating courses and sections, enrolling students and staff, and maintaining grade books.  Ensure quarterly report cards and transcripts are complete and accurate

Physical Requirements
 
  • Must be able to successfully complete a pre-hire physical
  • Implement behavioral interventions as needed

  • In person on campus work/school and treatment environment

Minimum Qualifications
 
  • Master’s degree in special education preferred or completion of a Colorado approved principal and administrator program
  • State of Colorado Department of Education (CDE) principal license (or qualify to obtain)
  • Valid State of Colorado Department of Education (CDE) Teaching license with Special Education Endorsement
  • All candidates must have (or qualify to obtain) a current Colorado driver's license
  • All positions require a pre-employment drug test, FBI fingerprint check, CBI criminal records check, child abuse registry check, motor vehicle record check, academic record verification, and reference checks
